Yes, the principles and practices of the Make Marriage Better program work for any kind of relationship, whether in romantic relationships, familial relationships, work relationships, friendships, or any other situation where two or more people want to improve their way of relating with each other.
Yes, if your partner or the other person/people you are in relationship with are not able or willing to attend sessions, the same techniques will benefit you as an individual in learning exactly what is causing the relationship struggle, and how to create the most effective change possible.
There is significant overlap between the two, but generally speaking, coaching is more focused on taking action to achieve the goals clients set, where psychotherapy spends more time gaining insight into the source of a problem. In the Make Marriage Better approach, we use the evidence-based Deconstructing Anxiety™ method to combine insight and action. This has been demonstrated to help you reach your goals in a fast and effective way by working at the deepest level of healing.
There is no set number of sessions that one must attend relationships coaching in the Make Marriage Better program. You simply attend as long as you feel the sessions are providing benefit to you, and conclude when you are ready to move on without the support of further sessions. This is something that can be discussed in sessions with your relationships coach, to ensure you have what you need to take the program with you after concluding sessions.
Since these are coaching sessions rather than psychotherapy sessions, no insurance reimbursement is available. We can, however, give you a receipt for tax purposes if you request one.
We offer virtual sessions on Zoom that make it practical and convenient for anyone to attend relationship coaching. Our experience shows that there is no advantage to having in-person sessions compared to telehealth sessions; the work gets done just as effectively whether on site or held virtually.
